Here is a closer look at two of the Artists who will be part of the series. Each was hand selected not only for their talents and accomplishments in the music industry, but also because they fit so well into the culture Red Hot and Blue is know for over the past 3 decades.
Sam Frazier is a guitarist (and pianist and bassist), singer and songwriter from Greensboro, NC. He has released two solo CDs (Half a Million Years and Sam Frazier). He was a member of the band Tornado with whom he released a long-playing record album (First Alert) and a CD (When a Breeze Breaks Your Bones). He has also performed and recorded with Martha Bassett (The Goodbye Party, Magnificat, Mortal Flesh), The Piedmont Songbag (Try and Spread Some Cheer), Bruce Piephoff (Hamburger Square, The Chestnut Tree, Clockwork), Buddha Hat, Lisa Dames, The Numbers, The Prizzi’s House Band, The Sky Kings, Mary Lyon (Hopscotch) and The Hall Monitors. He has opened shows for Joan Armatrading, The Neville Brothers, America, The Funky Meters, The Duhks, The Del McCrory Band, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, Eric Church, Craig Morgan, Root Boy Slim and others.
Keeping the Blues alive in the Carolinas and beyond, we are thrilled to have Sam share his talents with us. His soulful voice and seasoned guitar work is one of many reasons he is in demand as a live performing artist and studio session musician.
Grady Matthew is a Triangle Area based musician in multiple popular bands. A multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. In addition to performing solo guitar and vocals for our Smokin Hot Live Music series, Grady contributes bass and vocals for several popular NC bands. His group Jandr will perform at Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival in Mebane, NC this October. The Sunday Special, another group he is a member of, plays venues large and small throughout the region. Well versed in multiple styles of music including Classic Soul, Blues, Funk, and Jazz, he is highly active in the music scene.
